Frequently asked questions about our flooring

Our beautiful floor planks are produced in China and Vietnam.

The micro bevel shaves the wear layer down at a slight angle to create a distinct look for each flooring piece, and it assists in mitigating subfloor inconsistency.

A painted bevel is considered an upgrade to a micro bevel finish. Just like how it sounds, the edges of each piece are painted using a special machine with a complimenting color to the floor. This added detail brings dimension and interest to the floor, highlighting each board’s character.

Please contact your local dealer to obtain a sample. You could search for them on our website at https://lionsfloor.com/find-a-retailer/ to locate the closest dealer near you.

All Lions Floor products are FloorScore certified and free of harmful chemical contents like formaldehyde and phthalates. Relevant test reports are available. Please see Formaldehyde, Ortho-Phthalates, and FloorScore certifications.

Yes, all collections are tested in U.S.-based laboratories.

Yes, you may use a breathable non-staining rug pad underneath all rugs to prevent scratching.

The standard static load rating for SPC is 250 PSI. Please have your licensed contractor refer to this measurement.

Avoid walking on your vinyl floors with cleats, sports shoes, and spiked high heels. Concentrated pressure impact from such footwear will damage the floor surface.

We recommend keeping a 3-foot distance from wood-burning fireplaces and stoves to avoid dimension changes. For bathrooms, we require the application of a 6mil moisture barrier. Dimension stability reports are available on our website as our products achieved excellent results.

Installation of cabinets, island and peninsula countertops, vanities, tubs, and showers must be done first on any floating flooring installation. Then the floor planks can be installed around them. Glued down LVP flooring can be installed under cabinets.

The door casing must be cut allowing the proper expansion space under casing. Make sure to follow total distance of continual run of flooring as written in installation instructions.

SPC flooring contains no volatile organic compounds. It does not contain formaldehyde, benzene, wood pulp, phthalates, methanol or heavy metals. It is usually 60 to 80% limestone powder with polymer plasticizer with no foaming agent or other harmful materials.

WPC and Laminate flooring still use formaldehyde in production and will contain some VOC’s. The EPA has regulations to keep the amount at safe levels but some manufacturers still get caught shipping products with hazardous levels of VOC’s.

‘Embossing in register’ or EIR is a manufacturing technique we use to create a grain consistent with the photographic image. The texture follows the characteristics of the wood grain pattern to make the product look as natural as possible. EIR intensifies depth, texture and the natural look of the floor. It accentuates the design; especially when light is reflected off the surface, it also allows for micro-grout lines and precise detailing.

FloorScore is the most recognized indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments. It was developed by SCS (Scientific Certification Systems), a third party certifier, with the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI), a leading industry trade association of flooring manufacturers and suppliers. "FloorScore Certification" signifies that Lions Floor's products have been rigorously tested and proven to meet or exceed stringent indoor air quality standards. Our commitment to this certification ensures that our flooring not only adds beauty to your spaces but also contributes to a healthier indoor environment by reducing harmful emissions.

"VOC, or Volatile Organic Compounds, are chemicals that can evaporate into the air from certain flooring materials, potentially affecting indoor air quality and health. At Lions Floor, we prioritize your well-being by offering flooring products that meet stringent emissions standards, ensuring low VOC emissions. Our commitment to indoor air quality means that you can enjoy beautiful and safe flooring in your spaces." Read about our FloorScore certification.

Rigid core prints are commonly made with digital prints of wood flooring and reprinted on vinyl paper. The most popular species at this moment will be Oak, and we are seeing an increasing demand of Hickory and Maple this year.

Usually, 4-5 unique planks can be produced per print film because the regular width of a print fill is at 985mm; a 7-inch plank is 180mm, which cuts the film into 5 pieces, whereas a 9-inch plank is 230mm, which cuts the film into 4 pieces. We have achieved 8-10 unique planks in our new collection by using 2 separate films dedicated to one color.

Direct to core printing is done by the embroidery rollers of the extrusion machine. While the ingredients are in the soft stage, the extrusion has been molded by the embroidery on the roller, thus the finishing planks are produced with embossing naturally on top.
